Job ID: 52286 Location: Columbia Full/Part Time: Full-Time Hiring Department The Immunomodulation and Translational Research Program in the Department of Child Health at the University of Missouri, Columbia, MO. Job Description The Postdoctoral Fellow position supports research in the Immunomodulation and Translation Research Program at NextGen. The candidate will conduct studies using novel biologics to modulate the immune response, aiming to induce tolerance to autoantigens for preventing and treating type 1 diabetes, and to improve survival of pancreatic islets or stem cell-derived beta cells in preclinical models. Responsibilities include cell culture, immune cell proliferation, immune monitoring (flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, PCR), and rodent manipulations. The successful applicant will actively participate in lab discussions, contribute to grant and manuscript submissions, deliver oral presentations at various meetings, and train graduate students and technical staff. They are expected to contribute intellectually to the research and lead a project. Qualifications Ph.D., MD, or D.V.M. by employment start date. At least 3 years of lab experience, with expertise in recombinant DNA technologies, cloning, protein expression, basic immunology, rodent handling, and tissue culture. Experience in bioinformatics, rodent injections, tissue harvesting. Strong organizational, communication, critical thinking skills, and a growth mindset.
