Job Description Trigyn has a contractual opportunity for a Communications Center Operator. This position is based at our client site in Colombia. - Job Responsibilities: 1. Will operate two way radio equipment, fax machines, scanners and other document handling equipment commonly used in the United Nations Communications Centres, act as a dispatcher and provide mobile communications support in remote areas. 2. The duties include but not limited to: - Operate, do preventative and first echelon maintenance to radio; communications equipment used in the Communications Centre, such as HF voice and data systems, VHF and UHF conventional and air band conventional radios, trunking radios, etc.; - Manage the radio network directing and relaying radio traffic as required; - Support Security related communications as in traffic tracking, emergency relief and all responsibilities associated to MOSS (Minimum Operating Security Standard) directives; - Receive and distribute faxes and other electronic based correspondence using the standard UN protocol for information dissemination using MARS, DIME or any other Information Technology distribution and archiving system implemented by DPKO; - Install and operate portable satellite terminals such as Inmarsat and Iridium; - Maintain in top condition fax machines, digital senders and any other equipment used in the Telecommunications Centre; - Manage and support the switchboard as required; - Perform other duties as required. - Required Experience: IT Service Support - Works as part of a team of service coordination staff. - Assists with the receipt and logging of service requests in the automated request management system. - Provide advice to users; analyses requirements of users, translates requirements into solutions. - Identifies user requirements, recommends enhancements and new features for existing systems. - Participates in implementing an automated help desk facility accessible throughout the mission. - Records customer support problem resolution data to track customer support call within the mission. - Ensures the overall integrity and security of the IT systems and protects confidentiality.
