Head of Medical Affairs, Colombia & South Cone TheHead of Medical Affairs, Colombia & South Cone is responsiblefor overseeing, leading, and governing: - MA headcount. All MAactivities, including but not limited to: - Input into the creationof Medical Strategies. - Design and execution of MA sponsoredstudies. - Oversight and management of Investigator SponsoredResearch. - Trainings. - Development of scientific content forlocal activities. - Review of promotional materials. - Interactionwith local HTA, HA and External Experts. - Medical Information. This position will drive the creation and execution of country MAgoals and ensure effective functional and cross-functionalalignment through an engaged and collaborative approach to achievethe business objectives for the Astellas Colombia & South Cone,sitting as part of the Astellas affiliate leadership team. Thisposition provides leadership for the Medical Affairs Functionregionally and globally through membership of the regional MAleadership team, contributing to the creation and execution of theMA organizational goals. Responsibilities and Accountabilities:Leadership - Represent the Medical Director’s voice/view at the Colombia and South Cone leadership table and other leadershipforums. Ensure that the affiliate needs are reflected in thestrategic and tactical plans and in development programs bysupporting TA leads in collecting inputs from affiliate, e.g. localbusiness needs and data gaps. Partner closely with the Head ofHEOR, to provide insight on local Access strategy and challenges. -Support affiliate in rationalizing tactics, by consideringsynergies within country and taking a cross portfolio view toprioritize resources and tactics across TAs. Ensure consistencyacross the affiliate Medical Affairs department. Identifyopportunities for increased efficiency. - Understand fully thelocal market dynamics, and healthcare environment within countriessupported. Support the affiliate in creating and maintaining anetwork of Key External Experts in the relevant TAs. Support TAleads in gathering field insights from the region to inputstrategy. - Champion a collaborative mindset. Ensure full alignmentwith key stakeholders cross functionally with regard to businessobjectives and strategies within the sub-region, being a proactivepartner to functions in the affiliate and an active member ofmanagement teams. - Coordinate information/communication within theaffiliate and with Region MA, Global MA and other functions. Governance - Responsible for ensuring that the MA teams fulfilloverall MA objectives in line with Astellas strategy and functionalimperatives. - Ensure that the MA function in the affiliate isoperationalized according to the highest standards. - Guaranteemedical governance, partnering with the Regional MA Operations toensure all procedures are in place and aligned with CompanyPolicies and SOPs and that people are appropriately and timelytrained and adhere to these standards and procedures. - Oversee andprovide strategic direction to the relevant Affiliate MedicalAffairs team members and ensure plans, budget and resources aremanaged proactively. Ensure quality of execution and timelydelivery of clinical trials, and that the quality of affiliate datageneration meets the goals for regional and global approval via astrong partnership with the MA LATAM Operations Group. Oversee theexecution of affiliate plans and activities and provide regularreports aligned with Regional and Global operation metrics. PeopleManagement - Oversees headcount allocation within the country. Responsible for assessing local business needs and buildscapabilities to the required standard to meet the needs of the Affiliates and Medical Affairs strategic goals. - Responsible formanaging the senior affiliate MA talent, e.g. personal developmentplans, talent retention. - Responsible for people management andthe development of high potential talent within the MA community. Preferred Qualifications: - Qualified medical professional - Fluentin English, spoken and written. - At least 10 years’ experience inthe Pharma industry in different MA roles, preferably including Affiliate Medical Affairs Head. - Strong understanding and abilityto comply with industry laws and regulations. - Strong expertise inthe medical sciences, clinical development, medical programdesigning including experience in designing, executing andreporting of clinical trials. - Experience in managing large Medical Affairs budgets with demonstrated ability to applypro-active risk management on budget and timelines. - Provenleadership capability in aligning medical strategies with corporategoals and providing critical business shaping insights. - Strongunderstanding of Market Access issues and HTA environment in thecountries supported. - Experience in managing large multiculturalteams. Championing matrix management. - Highly developedunderstanding of the external market place to identify long termbenefit for unmet customer, payer and patient needs. - Outstandinginterpersonal and networking skills. This position is based in Bogota and will require on-site work and travel might be required.
