Purpose The Caribbean, Central America & Uruguay (CCAU) Technology Systems Reliability team interfaces with Senior Management, Infrastructure, IT Operations, Global System Reliability Office and business partners to continuously improve the stability, reliability and efficiency of our Banking systems through Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) based principles and practices that will include continuous people, process and technology enhancements in support of our rapidly changing technology product portfolio. The incumbent will work cross-functionally amongst a variety of teams and be a contributor in all significant engineering services or solutions delivered to CCAU Technology and stakeholders. The incumbent will also have an understanding ‘what could go wrong’, help to solve complex problems and have a flare for communicating and participating in discussions with technical and business partners. The incumbent will work directly with our Software Engineering teams to both maintain and operate our existing technology and build our next generation of technologies. Accountabilities Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge. Collaborate with the Global System Reliability Engineering team as well as with software development, Quality, Product and Data Engineering teams to champion SRE/DevOps culture and practices. Lead senior stakeholder communication and build strategic initiatives to address major challenges in achieving best-in-class stable, reliable, secure, and performing systems. Implement and govern a ‘Lean’ technology service management system amongst service owners to ensure continuous reliability improvement. Ensure continuous improvement and execution of quality and timely major incident root cause analysis and blameless postmortem activities to prevent similar problems in the future. Drive prioritization of reliability features and contribute to the design, development, and delivery of effective tooling, alerts, and automated responses to identify and address reliability risks. Work closely with global and regional architecture boards to define and implement resilience policies for new and existing solutions. Lead initiatives to refine build, plan, and deploy practices for improved stability, reliability, efficiency, repeatability, and security. Incorporate the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture into day-to-day activities and decisions. Pursue effective and efficient operations in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles while ensuring adherence to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk obligations. Champion a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive work environment. Dimensions 4 employees supervised 10 Countries / 3 regions / multiple business units supported 3 regional systems on separate software stacks. Education / Experience / Other Information Expert understanding of SRE principles. 10+ years of experience in IT with at least 3 years in system architecture (5+ preferred). ITIL V3 Foundation Cert. in ITSM with professional experience with ITSM tools (ServiceNow, a plus). Strong understanding of Service Management principles, Service Level Objectives, and measuring resiliency. Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent. Excellent communication (both verbal and written) skills to communicate confidently and clearly to executive leadership. Professional programming experience in one or more of the following: C, C++, Java. Advanced experience with GCP/Azure/AWS. Deep understanding of containerization using Docker or similar. Bilingual English/Spanish language skills (B2+ English level).
