Job ID: 55100 Location: Columbia Full/Part Time: Full-Time Hiring Department The Wan Influenza Systems Biology Lab at MU Bond Life Sciences Center, University of Missouri, Columbia Job Description The Wan Influenza Systems Biology Lab is seeking applications for two Senior Research Associate positions in Virology. Our lab is affiliated with the Department of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology, School of Medicine; Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, College of Engineering; and Department of Veterinary Pathobiology, College of Veterinary Medicine. We are also part of the Center for Influenza and Emerging Infectious Diseases (CIEID), Bond Life Sciences Center, and Institute for Data Science and Informatics at MU. Our lab, located at the MU Bond Life Sciences Center, integrates clinical, experimental, computational, and translational approaches to study influenza and SARS-CoV-2, aiming to improve vaccines, antivirals, and pandemic preparedness. We utilize facilities such as the ABSL-2 animal facility for influenza transmission and vaccine studies, and BSL-3/ABSL-3 labs for infectious disease research. MU provides access to advanced core facilities supporting imaging, proteomics, metabolomics, and computational modeling. Responsibilities Work on projects related to viral transmission, vaccine effectiveness, and pathogen discovery. Lead a research team and mentor postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and junior staff. Contribute to publications, reports, and grant proposals. Collaborate with researchers at MU and beyond, with opportunities for independent project development. Shift: Regular hours, Monday-Friday, with flexibility for weekends/evenings as needed. Qualifications PhD in Virology, Microbiology, Infectious Diseases, or related fields. At least three years of postdoctoral research experience. Experience in a virology lab is preferred.
