Financial Controller – Strategic Partner to US Entrepreneurs Location: Fully Remote with Full Autonomy (Colombia-based) Company: SMB Edge (Shareholder Ventures’ Shared Services Team) Commitment: Full-Time About SMB Edge SMB Edge is the shared services team of Shareholder Ventures, a leading investor in entrepreneurs who buy profitable small businesses (SMBs) in the US. Our mission is to empower entrepreneurs by providing them with robust financial strategies and operational support. Instead of starting businesses from scratch, our entrepreneurs acquire stable companies backed by US government loans, typically generating between $1M and $2M USD in annual profits (EBITDA). Our fully remote, Colombia-based team plays a critical role by delivering essential financial planning, analysis, and back-office solutions, enabling these entrepreneurs to focus on growth and operations. What You'll Do - Serve as the primary financial advisor and strategic partner to multiple (6-9) US-based CEOs and business owners. - Mentor a team of skilled Colombian bookkeepers to ensure accurate, timely, and insightful financial reporting. - Oversee monthly and quarterly financial closes, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial statements. - Develop and maintain advanced financial models, including budgeting, forecasting, and 13-week cash flow management. - Analyze financial performance, identify opportunities for operational improvements, and provide actionable recommendations directly to business owners. - Coordinate with external and internal team members to ensure compliance with US GAAP and tax regulations. - Help standardize financial operations and implement efficient, scalable processes for newly acquired businesses. Who You Are - 5+ years in senior financial roles (Controller, Senior Accountant, or similar), ideally with exposure to US GAAP. - Experienced in financial planning, forecasting, and strategic analysis. - Strong proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets for financial modeling. - Fluent English (B2/C1) with excellent communication skills. - Organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple clients effectively. - Passionate about building trusted relationships with business leaders and mentoring teams.
