Responsible for screening, assessment, planning, goal development, and providing appropriate intervention services. Focus areas include fine motor skills, sensory/perceptual motor skills, and self-care skills. Requirements: Must hold a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited college or university. Must possess or be eligible for a valid license as required by the Virginia Board of Medicine. Knowledge of medical and pediatric information related to occupational therapy services. Experience as an occupational therapist preferred. Experience with pediatric occupational therapy preferred. Reports To: Building Principal Essential Job Functions: Identify students needing evaluation and/or occupational therapy services. Perform formal observations to assess student strengths and weaknesses. Determine educational implications of evaluation findings. Screen and evaluate students to determine therapy needs. Select activities to enhance student performance in necessary skill areas. Maintain documentation of students receiving services. Collaborate with school staff, parents, and providers to set IEP objectives, determine intervention frequency, implement objectives, evaluate progress, and decide when to discontinue services. Suggest modifications to the physical environment when appropriate. Assist in modifying school tasks and activities to meet student needs. Work with classroom teachers regarding student needs. Communicate effectively with parents about therapy progress. Monitor student progress and report to relevant parties. Complete records, reports, and assessments promptly.
