Job ID: 55098 Location: Columbia Full/Part Time: Full-Time Hiring Department The Wan Influenza Systems Biology Lab, Bond Life Sciences Center at the University of Missouri - Columbia Job Description The Wan Influenza Systems Biology Lab is seeking applications for a Post Doctoral Fellow in Virology. The lab is affiliated with multiple departments at MU and the Center for Influenza and Emerging Infectious Diseases (CIEID). Located at the MU Bond Life Sciences Center, our lab integrates clinical, experimental, computational, and translational approaches to study influenza and SARS-CoV-2, aiming to improve vaccine and antiviral strategies and pandemic preparedness. Facilities include ABSL-2 and BSL-3 labs, supported by various core facilities for advanced research. Responsibilities: Investigate viral transmission mechanisms, develop animal models for viral spread studies. Explore molecular mechanisms affecting vaccine performance, develop broadly protective vaccines. Identify emerging viral threats through pathogen discovery, genomic surveillance, and epidemiological studies. Record methods and results systematically, perform experiments, analyze data, and prepare manuscripts. Collaborate within a team and engage in professional growth opportunities. Shift: Regular hours, Monday-Friday, with flexibility for weekends/evenings as needed. Qualifications Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in Virology, Microbiology, Infectious Diseases, or related fields. Candidates should have laboratory experience in virology.
