About the Role We are recruiting a Research Associate to work under the leadership of the SEI Latin America Water program manager. This role will contribute to manage and implement research, capacity development, and policy design projects in the Latin America centre related to water management, river basin planning, and sustainable sanitation. Key Duties and Responsibilities: - Implement projects of the Latin America centre's Water program, including developing, using, and transferring planning tools and participatory processes that promote holistic, transparent, and robust decision-making for planning and management of river basins and water systems. - Develop platforms for visualization and analysis of water management models. - Utilize deep knowledge in Geographic Information Systems for the analysis of water resource management systems. - Propose and develop research on innovative approaches in sustainable water management. - Develop activities to engage stakeholders, build capacity, and inform decision-making among public and private institutions in the water and environmental sectors. - Plan and perform work in the office, in the field, and with public and private institutions across various areas to collect necessary information for project implementation. - Prepare materials to disseminate results and facilitate capacity building, including reports, scientific publications, guides, manuals, and presentations, among others. - Support the development of new proposals relevant to the Water program. Requirements: - A MSc in Engineering, Environmental or Earth Science, with postgraduate study in Geographical Information Systems. - Commitment to supporting research work carried out in pursuit of a more sustainable future for human communities and natural ecosystems. - Organized, collaborative, problem-solving, proactive, and excellent communication skills in both Spanish and English. - Ability to work independently to meet objectives and deadlines, and be able to work in the field under variable climatic conditions, in remote locations, and in physically demanding circumstances. - Travel to different places (both within and outside the country). Desirable Qualifications: - Knowledge in Geographical Information Systems, remote sensing, and spatial data management. - Knowledge and experience of work in analysis and modeling of surface or groundwater hydrology, water resources systems, and water management-ecosystem interactions. - Experience in developing online visualization platforms for sharing model results and spatial data. - Desired experience developing and deploying WEAP models. - Solid knowledge and experience in the use of scientific computing tools for spatial analysis (R, MATLAB, Python, others).
