Job Title: AI / ML Engineer (with Nutrition Focus) Type: Full-time, Independent Contractor Location: Remote, ideally based in Latin America or overlapping time zones Work hours: U.S. business hours Design the intelligence behind healthier eating About the Role We’re seeking an AI/ML Engineer with experience in data science, nutrition databases, and machine learning to lead development of our recommendation engine. You’ll work closely with the founder and full-stack team to build intelligent systems that learn, adapt, and scale with real-world usage. Responsibilities Build and train models to generate meal plans based on user inputs and goals Structure and query nutrition databases and ontologies Implement and optimize algorithms for personalization and substitution Develop semantic search, classification, and ranking systems Collaborate on data ingestion, transformation, and quality Stay on top of emerging AI/ML tools, including LLMs Help shape data strategy and experimentation roadmap What We’re Looking For 3–7 years experience in ML, data science, or related field Familiarity with nutrition science and food-related data sets Experience with data fabric, semantic modeling, or ontology Proficient in Python, SQL, and ML frameworks (e.g. TensorFlow, PyTorch) Adaptable, curious, and excited to ship in an early-stage environment Comfortable balancing scientific rigor with startup pragmatism Bonus: Registered Dietitian, food tech background, or experience with recommender systems
