Job Vacancy: News Producer/Video Journalist, X2 - AFP Location: Bogota, Colombia Starting date: August 1, 2024 Deadline for applications: July 15, 2024 Location: Bogota Latin America region THE JOB AFPTV is hiring two English-language video producers based in Bogotá and reporting to the regional AFP headquarters in Montevideo, who will handle a wide variety of news and features from across Latin America and North America. Fast-paced and exciting, the job involves producing and editing hard news production -either from VJ on the ground or from LIVE feeds -, features, and lighter stories for broadcast clients, working under the supervision of AFPTV’s regional coordinator and AFP's regional chief editors for Latin America. Sharp writing and narrating skills for short-format video packages are essential to the role, as are excellent shooting skills and a keen eye for the visual. The job requires a multimedia ethos, working closely with the regional text, photo and graphics departments. You will have to ensure the reliability of the news covered. You should be familiar with the issues involved in handling user generated content and AFP’s guidelines concerning the use of UGC. You must be ready to work a wide range of hours, including early mornings and late nights, as well as weekends. SKILLS REQUIRED A minimum two years' experience in producing short-format hard news and news feature packages for web and broadcast First-rate social media skills and experience of sourcing UGC Excellent knowledge and understanding of online video Excellent news judgment, knowledge of current events, and a flair for narration Working language is English. Fluent in Spanish and good level of French. Portuguese a plus. Strong news-writing skills Demonstrable shooting ability Honed non-linear editing skills, preferably on Premiere Organizational skills and an eye for detail. The temperature is around 20°C all year round, and the climate is often cool because Bogotá sits at 2,600 metres above sea level on a plateau in the Andes Mountains.
