Key Responsibilities: The Regional Coordinator of Advocacy, Campaigns, and Child Participation at World Vision Latin America and the Caribbean Office (WVLACRO) coordinates the strategic design, implementation, and measurement of evidence-based advocacy initiatives to ensure the well-being of children. The position holder provides strategic advice to focal points in national offices to successfully implement and monitor their advocacy plans to amplify WV’s impact. In addition, identifies, builds, and nurtures solid collaboration relationships with regional bodies, national governments, civil society, private sector, and children, to influence policy, budget allocation, and behavioral change conducive to stronger protection systems and safer and more inclusive communities for children. Strategic political influence, social mobilization, campaigns, and the inclusive and meaningful participation of children and their networks across Latin America and the Caribbean are key responsibilities of this position. The role focuses on advancing the rights of children through a solid local-to-global advocacy approach, which includes networks of children, grassroots structures, Faith-Based Organizations (FBOs), local governments, civil society, and national authorities in the legislative, executive, and judiciary branches. To position key advocacy and External Engagement lines (EE), this role works in close coordination with Communications and Faith and Development (F&D) Mobilization teams. Strategic Advocacy Leadership: involves the design, implementation, and monitoring of WVLAC regional advocacy strategy, in line with organizational priorities and CWB. Develop and oversee the implementation of the Regional Advocacy & EE Plan. Ensure advocacy is grounded in evidence and child rights principles, promoting research, knowledge, and best practices dissemination. Monitor regional trends and policy developments to inform strategic positioning and presence in spaces of influence. Coordinates roll out, implementation, and tracks results of global and regional campaigns. Inform the inclusion of advocacy approaches in grant acquisition, programs, and humanitarian responses. External Engagement and Representation of WV LAC: includes mapping, identifying strategic stakeholders and connecting them to relevant counterparts in WVLAC, fostering collaboration conducive to enhanced positioning and diversification of funding streams. Identify, contact, build, and maintain high-level relationships with regional bodies (e.g., OAS, CEPAL, LAC-RMD, MMI-LAC, Inter-American Institute on Childhood, and others) to influence policy and budgets to guarantee child rights within the child wellbeing framework (CWB). Represent World Vision in regional forums, coalitions, and working groups to position the organization as a thought leader in child rights advocacy in both development and humanitarian spaces. Connect regional representations to local representations of relevant stakeholders with National Offices, contributing to an aligned EE and fundraising. Child Participation and Empowerment of networks of children: World Vision functions as a platform to amplify the voices of children, fostering meaningful and inclusive participation of children from LAC at the national, regional, and global level. Foster and nurture a regional network of child participation to ensure the inclusion and representation of children in regional and global spaces. Develop and support mechanisms for meaningful child participation in advocacy and decision-making spaces, including those with governments and FBO, while ensuring child safeguarding and ethical standards in all participatory processes Amplify the voices of children in World Vision’s EE and positioning, through the creation and facilitation of regional platforms for children to express their views, influence policies, and promote behavioural change. Evidence Generation and Policy Influence. Collaborate with research, DME, and programs teams to generate data and evidence for advocacy. Translate research findings into policy briefs, position papers, and advocacy messages to position Child Rights at the center of decision-making agendas. Support National Offices in tailoring evidence for regional and global advocacy efforts. Capacity building and technical support Provide technical assistance and training to country offices on advocacy and child participation. Foster cross-country learning and sharing of best practices Develop tools and guidance to strengthen advocacy capacity across the region, while fostering a local-to-global model that empowers staff as advocates for child wellbeing Monitoring, evaluation, and reporting Trace the progress of advocacy initiatives and child participation outcomes. Contribute to regional and global reporting requirements, including ASM reports annually and the regional report. Use learning to adapt strategies and scale up impact. Mínimum Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Human Rights, Social Science, Public Policy, or related field. 7 years of experience in advocacy, public policy, or child rights promotion, preferably in Latin America and the Caribbean. Experience working with or within regional bodies and multilateral institutions. Demonstrated ability to engage children and youth in participatory processes. Excellent speaking, writing, and comprehension skills in English and Spanish. Portuguese and French are a plus. Strategic thinker with strong political acumen. Strong understanding of displacement, violence prevention, food security, and climate justice from a rights perspective. Availability to travel up to 35% of the time.
