The Data Management Consultant plays an important role in the implementation of Enterprise Data Management (EDM) solutions for Datasource Consulting/EXL clients. Assisting with requirements gathering/analysis, development, testing, documentation, and deployment tasks, this technical and business-facing role works independently as well as collaboratively to ensure project success. Data Management Consultants have practical experience developing EDM solutions, a strong working knowledge of numerous enabling technologies, and are eager to learn new skills. Able to fill different positions in multi-functional and multi-shore project teams. This position will have the opportunity to engage with clients, across industries and collaborate with all aspects of a Data Management organization including Data Governance, Data Quality, MDM, Quality Assurance and Business Intelligence. You will also be working closely with Cloud Architects, Data Architects, Data Engineers, and Project Managers. The average Data Management Engineer stays with us over 3 years. This means predictable work for you and the chance to make a difference to our clients. Hours of operation are strictly business hours adjusted to the clients we support in each time zone. Most of the working day is 9-5, except for some early or late meetings to meet with multi-shore project teams. Some travel may be required to client sites in the U.S. Most of your work will be conducted remotely using collaborative tools and video conferencing. On any one day you might Communicate with Account Executives and clients regarding scope and priority. Analyze data to identify patterns and validate requirements. Create a Requirement Document. Facilitate a Daily Standup. Collaborate with Data Architects and Engineers to develop innovative solutions. Support a Request for Proposal from a new Client. Validate data has loaded and all data meets expectations at a detailed level. Gather and summarize interview notes for an Assessment of client data management capabilities. Disseminate notes to gain consensus and approval on decisions. Support and participate an internal project to enhance our capabilities. 70% Database Management & Development Collaborates closely with consultants, technical leads, and clients to design, structure, and maintain efficient, secure, and scalable database environments. Leads and participates in design and architecture review sessions focused on data integration and migration, with a strong emphasis on ETL processes using SSIS and change tracking using Change Data Capture (CDC). Develops, optimizes, and maintains data integration and replication solutions across hybrid environments (on-premises and cloud). Implements and supports database solutions in AWS, leveraging services such as RDS, S3, DMS, and Redshift. Monitors and continuously improves database performance by implementing proactive and reactive maintenance strategies. Performs performance tuning, data integrity validation, and ensures high availability of systems. Produces and maintains detailed technical documentation, including configuration records, data flows, backup policies, and recovery procedures. 15% Communication Communicates clearly and consistently with team members, technical leadership, and stakeholders regarding system status, risks, issues, and key decisions. Attend technical and functional meetings to understand business requirements and translate them into robust database solutions. 10% Project Management/Organization Participates in continuous improvement initiatives by evaluating new tools and technologies related to data management, automation, and cloud integration. Supports planning and execution of database migrations or deployments, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards. 5% Others Attends training courses and pursues certifications focused on AWS database services, SSIS, large-scale data processing, and modern data engineering tools and practices.
