Job Description Key Responsibilities: - Provide technical leadership in the preparation of business cases for construction projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify key project risks and develop comprehensive plans. - Ensure adherence to established development standards and guidelines, maintaining and updating the company's construction book of standards to reflect industry best practices and internal regulations. - Facilitate clear communication and cooperation between design and build partners, stakeholders, and team members to maintain project integrity and compliance with scope, roles, and requirements. - Assist in contracting soil preparation and environmental studies during business case development, providing guidance on land options and feasibility. - Support due diligence on acquisitions for improvement and/or expansion opportunities, considering existing site acquisition possibilities. - Lead the preparation of RFP documents and select General Contractors/Design-Builders or subcontractors for construction projects. - Prepare and administer proper construction and administration contracts, negotiating revisions and additions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors. - Manage purchasing processes within Free Trade Zones, aligning purchasing timelines with design and build partners. - Review engineering and architectural drawings to ensure compliance with regulations, building codes, and specifications. - Evaluate construction methods and determine cost-effectiveness of plans. - Collaborate with Project Managers and team members on construction projects, providing timely updates and interacting with company-employed 3rd parties as necessary. - Track and control construction schedules and associated costs to achieve project completion within budget and time constraints. - Address delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction sites, taking prompt action to mitigate impact. - Resolve work procedures, complaints, and construction problems promptly. - Verify sub-contractor lien releases prior to making payments to contractors. - Review progress reports, checking on reported difficulties and correcting safety violations or deficiencies, communicating deviations from the plan. - Lead efforts to investigate new construction technologies, practices, and methods for deployment in projects. - Maintain project cost benchmarking for clear visibility of regional construction costs. - Support construction review meetings with contractors to monitor and control progress, managing resolution of issues and action items to ensure deliverables are achieved. Requirements: - 10+ years' experience in the industry or similar field, with focus on building, refrigeration, and equipment design and construction implementation. - Proven track record of delivering new facilities in the food industry or similar industry. - Technical skills in ammonia, freon, and CO2 refrigeration systems, mechanical, and electrical fields. - Ability to lead resource planning efforts in large, multi-facility warehousing environments with multiple concurrent project oversight. - Fluency in English preferred. - Excellent communication and presentation skills. - Ability to communicate professionally with people at all levels of the organization and external contacts. - Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, primarily expertise with Excel, and ideally experience in AutoCad. - Travel - up to 75%.
