What does a Accountant & Payroll Specialist do? The Accountant/Payroll Specialist will oversee and manage the payroll and accounting functions of the organization, ensuring accurate, timely employee compensation in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. This role combines strategic payroll oversight with hands-on accounting and finance duties, including general ledger transactions, reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, and timekeeping. The ideal candidate has strong analytical abilities, exceptional attention to detail, and a proactive mindset to improve payroll operations while supporting broader accounting processes. What you need to be successful To thrive as an Accountant/Payroll Specialist at CANDA Solutions, LLC, a combination of skills and experiences is essential. You will possess a solid understanding of payroll functions and accounting functions. Proficiency in payroll software, preferably iSolved, and accounting platforms preferably Unanet, is crucial for managing payroll operations and financial transactions effectively. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities will empower you to conduct detailed reviews while maintaining meticulous payroll records. Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills are needed to compile accurate monthly bank reconciliations, analyze credit card transactions, and support audits with financial documentation. In addition, your competence in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, will help you generate insightful payroll reports and forecasts for senior management. Lastly, the ability to work independently and collaborate cross-functionally will enable you to implement enhancements and drive process improvements across the organization, making you a vital asset to our team. Knowledge and skills required for the position are: Payroll Management & Compliance: Managing payroll operations using ISolved including calculations, payroll data reviews, approvals and audits. Ensure accurate processing of salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes and other deductions. Maintain compliance with all federal, state and local payroll, wage and hour laws. Prepare and submit necessary documentation for tax deductions, benefits and garnishments. Accounting & Financial: Record financial transactions in the General Ledger using UNANET accounting software, including journal entries. Compile monthly bank reconciliations for all accounts. Analyze and record monthly credit card transactions. Facilitate audits by providing required payroll and financial documentation. Identify and recommend updates to payroll and accounting systems, processes, and procedures. Manage Accounts Receivable: Create and submit customer invoices; follow up on payments. Manage Accounts Payable: Record vendor and subcontractor invoices; prepare documentation for payments. Timekeeping & Reporting: Review employee time sheets for accuracy; make necessary corrections and updates. Ensure accurate and timely updates for new hires, terminations, and pay rate changes. Prepare and maintain accurate payroll records and reports for internal use and audits. Provide insightful payroll reporting and forecasts for senior management. Process Improvement & Support: Develop and implement enhancements to payroll processes and internal controls. Support additional finance or administrative tasks as needed. Required Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of payroll functions, internal controls, and payroll tax regulations. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities. Proficient in payroll software (iSolved preferred) and accounting platforms (UNANET preferred). Competence in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. Ability to work independently and collaborate cross-functionally. Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field. 3-5 years of experience in payroll, accounting, or a similar role.
