Union Bid Period: 5/7/2025 to 5/13/2025 Job Description Nature and Level of Work Perform skilled work on a journey level in the construction, maintenance, repair and alteration of campus structures and equipment. All work is subject to spot checking and inspection for conformance to specifications and accepted standards of the trade. Key Responsibilities Perform or assist with construction, maintenance, repair, alteration of campus structures, equipment and other building components and accessories. Assemble materials and tools. Clean, sharpen and adjust tools as required. Construct, erect, install and repair structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard, using carpenter's hand tools and power tools in conformance with local building codes. Prepare layout, using rule, framing square, and calipers. Mark cutting and assembly lines on materials, using pencil, chalk, and marking gage. Shape materials to prescribed measurements, using saws, chisels, and planes. Assemble, cut and shape materials and fasten them together with nails, dowel pins, or glue. Verify trueness of structures with plumb bob and carpenter's level. May study blueprints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to type of material required (such as lumber or fiberboard) and dimensions of structure or fixture to be fabricated as well as preparation of cost estimates, maintenance of records and preparation of reports. May perform or assist in performing any of the following: erect metal or wood framework for structures and lay sub-flooring; cover sub-floor with building paper to keep out moisture and lay hardwood, parquet, and wood-strip-block floors by nailing floors to sub-floor or cementing them to mastic or asphalt base; install floor coverings, roofing, tar, screens, cabinets, window glass, partitions, locks and other miscellaneous materials and fixtures; repair and install wood floors; build stairs, windows, and doors, and lay out and install partitions and cabinet work; apply shock-absorbing, sound-deadening, and decorative paneling to ceilings and walls; fit and install prefabricated window frames, doors, door frames, weather stripping, interior and exterior trim, and finish hardware, such as locks, letter drops, and kick
