We are currently looking for a Cobol / Mainframe Developer , with excellent communication skills in English to work for a technology project. What you´ll do You´ll be responsible for coordinating incident management, troubleshooting problems, conducting root cause analysis, and supporting system improvements. In addition, collaborating with teams to deliver technical training and ensure smooth operation of critical applications. What do we value? This role requires a strong project management foundation, excellent communication skills, and a focus on delivering successful campaign outcomes for our clients. Key Responsibilities: Providing L2 for application issues, diagnosing root causes and implementing resolutions. Coordinating L3 support with resolver groups (e.g. Software Engineer). Collaborating with Service Managers to deliver technical support and troubleshoot incidents and problems with existing applications by analysing system logs and performance data in collaboration with Software Engineers. Monitoring performance and proactively identifying problem areas of a system i.e. software bugs, misconfigurations, bottlenecks. Supporting quality assurance testing phase on new applications to ensure they meet industry standards for functionality and usability. Conducting root cause analyses for recurring issues, identifying and implementing long-term fixes. Advising Software Engineers to correct errors if any and modifying the existing software. Interacting in Corporate Systems about the performance of systems and solve their technical issues when relevant. Performing reports/dashboards of the apps and vendors for the Management. Supporting Corporate Systems teams with the creation of training and knowledge articles. Actioning both autogenerated batch tickets and incoming tickets from end users. Necessary skills and experience required: Proficiency in working with IBM Mainframe systems. Understanding of mainframe architecture and operations. Advanced knowledge of COBOL programming language. Experience in writing, debugging, and maintaining COBOL code. Ability to optimize COBOL programs for performance and efficiency. Expertise in creating and managing JCL scripts. Familiarity with JCL syntax and commands. In-depth knowledge of VSAM file structures and access methods. Understanding VSAM performance tuning and optimization. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks. Why Cognizant?
