This position is located in the Logistics Operations Unit of the United Nations Verification Mission in Colombia (UNVMC), duty station: Bogota. The incumbent will report directly to the Chief Operations and Resources Management. **Responsibilities**: Within delegated authority, the Chief of Unit, Logistics will be responsible for the following duties: - Exercises managerial and supervisory control over all logistics support required by the mission, which is usually a medium size operation. - Develops, prepares, coordinates and monitors overall logistic support plans including logistics forecasting, supply schedules, priorities or requirements, and resolution of urgent operational needs. - Ensures adequate logistics support to military, police, security and substantive components of the mission, and considers and approves cooperation and provision of logistics support to other UN AFPs operating in the mission area. - Supervises Unit budget, its preparation and execution. - Monitors and coordinates all multifunctional logistic requirements between UN HQ and the mission. - Assists the Chief Supply Chain Management (CSCM) or the Chief Service Delivery (CSD) in the development of guidance and procedures for logistics support. - Acts as the principal liaison between the mission and Headquarters staff for logistics matters and coordinates day to day support of logistics operations. - Briefs the officials of Mission Support on a daily basis on the ongoing logistics operations. - Ensures that logistics requirements take account of gender-specific needs. - Advises senior management on logistics operations, structures and staffing levels to ensure that they are at all times adequate to meet the requirements of the logistics strategy. - Leads logistics reconnaissance missions to various locations in the field in order to monitor the logistics support improvement. - Organizes and chairs logistics meetings. - Develops a training program for logistics staff in coordination with the military and police components and the various administration sections. - Assumes responsibilities of certifying officer when nominated. - Performs other related duties as required. Education Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in logistics, business administration, management, engineering, or related field. A first-level university degree in combination with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Job - Specific Qualification Certification in Supply Chain (SCOR-P, CSCP or equivalent) is desirable. Work Experience A minimum of seven (07) years of progressively responsible experience in land or air transport, logistics operations in military, commercial or international organization, or related areas is required. Experience in logistics operations in support of a field operation (inclusive of peacekeeping operations, special political missions, agencies funds and programmes), or other similar international organization is desirable.
