The Role (includes but is not limited to): - Execute assigned projects and provide a technical expertise and problem-solving in areas such as: Corrosion risk assessments and reviews (field and office-based) Materials selection, corrosion, and fabrication in support of major projects Cathodic protection design and troubleshooting Design and analysis of corrosion monitoring programs Failure analysis/ root cause derivation and associated mitigation work - Review and analyze plant operational, process, inspection, and environmental data to identify corrosion loops, active and potential damage mechanisms, and assign corrosion rates for piping and equipment as part of damage mechanisms review assessment. - Prepare corrosion studies and specifications and provide solutions for corrosion control, material selection, fabrication, inspection, and other risk mitigation strategies for assets, as required. - Demonstrate understanding of API 571, API 580, API 581, and other key standards. - Create integrity operating windows and writing technical reports and documents. - Support business development activities like proposal preparation/cost estimations, assess/recommend scope, cost, time, resources for the work to be undertaken, and be willing to participate in technical conferences, doing presentations, writing technical papers. - Demonstrate good communication skills and contribute to internal/external client management by taking feedback, deliver projects accurately and effectively manage client relationships. In addition to proven technical excellence, this person will be responsible for providing training and mentorship to junior team members and have strong business development capabilities. This role will be client-facing and require the ability to work with dynamic global teams. This position will involve some travel and site inspection work. About you: - A PhD degree in Materials, Metallurgical, Corrosion or Mechanical or Chemical Engineering - 5-10 years of corrosion engineering experience and/or working knowledge of field operations for the mining, energy and infrastructure industries - Fully fluent in Spanish and can communicate technical information clearly in English (additional languages such as Portuguese are further beneficial) - Proven strong knowledge with regards to corrosion, cathodic protection, and materials engineering. - NACE certifications, such as CP and CI, will be considered an asset. - Registered Professional Engineer, Scientists with relevant experience will also be considered. - Demonstrated leadership, ability to build consensus in teams for problem-solving and developing a client base. - Extensive experience in working with codes and standards. - Ability to work well with people in a diverse, multi-disciplinary team environment at all levels of the organization, as well as external customers/resources. - Ability to plan, prioritize and implement multiple concurrent projects or activities to effectively meet business needs. - Ability to be proactive, self-motivated, and to function independently of supervision. - Willingness and ability to work on projects locally, across South America and internationally. - Proven track record in providing corrosion and materials engineering support to integrity management projects against external and internal time, cost, and quality objectives. - Understanding of risk-based integrity management, engineering criticality assessments, pressure systems, corrosion management systems, inspection, and mitigation measures. - Commercial and business development acumen to assess opportunities, interface with clients, grow a business portfolio, and contribute to solutions. - Be an effective and persuasive communicator with strengths in both written and face to face communication.
