Refinery Planning Economist - Req ID: 15667 OverviewWe are seeking a Refinery Planning Economist to join our GlobalOptimizer Department (GOD). The (GOD) charter is to optimize crudeallocation and the operations of global manufacturing facilities inorder to maximize revenue, increase profitability, and captureinternational market opportunities. The division also acts as thelinear programming (LP) gatekeeper for wholly owned refineries andthe integrated global MPIMS model, which is used for optimizingglobal crude allocation and exploration of new internationalmarkets and integration options. Your primary role is to work withrefineries, Aramco Trading Company (ATC), and the Global Optimizerteam to optimize refinery’s crude allocation, crude mix, andproducts slates. With expertise in refinery operations, marketdynamics, commercial capabilities, and linear programmingmodelling, will produce a sound plan to help ensure the highestreturns of Aramco’s downstream assets; and is also accountable todevelop, monitor, and execute the monthly short operating plan. KeyResponsibilities - Drive commercial optimization at the local LPruns at the individual refinery. - Responsible to generate cruderelative values and crude ranking. - Provide monthly majorconstraints impact on asset for logistic unit performance andinvestment requirements needed. - Review and challenge constraintsto the individual LPs of each refinery (potentially run limitedconstraint model to create the baseline for ideal LP output). -Coordinate with ATC to reflect Saudi Aramco’s market perspective onthe individual Refinery LPs. - Create sensitivities, trade-offs,and scenarios for each of the individual LPs. - Work with otherasset economists within the same region to consolidate the LPs ofrefineries within the same region and explore optimizationopportunities. - Defend refinery interests during trade-offevaluations (after the central optimization team issues LPdifferentials) while keeping the overall optimization objectives inmind. - Provide both market and refinery operations outlook foryearly business planning. - Coordinate with refineries, ATC, andthe central Optimization team (and potentially other stakeholders)to execute short-term (within the production month) optimizationopportunities. - Identify, assess, and review strategic andcommercial viability of potential investment opportunities toimprove overall system viability. - Bachelor degree in Engineeringdiscipline; an MBA is preferable. - At least 8 years’ experience inrefining business, including technical and commercial aspects. -Experience using LP models is preferred. - Thorough knowledge ofengineering practices, economic principles, and calculationmethods. - Expertise in international business and cross-culturalprofessional practices.
