Apply for Job Job ID: 55395 Location: Columbia Full/Part Time: Full-Time Job Description The Division of Food, Nutrition, and Exercise Sciences (FNES) invites applications for a tenure-track (9-month) position at the level of Assistant Professor. This interdisciplinary position is funded through the College of Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources (CAFNR). As a research-intensive AAU R1 institution, the University of Missouri expects faculty to demonstrate a high level of research scholarship. The position involves a split appointment between teaching and research, with a competitive startup package, excellent facilities, and opportunities for collaboration. Research Responsibilities: The candidate's research should include sensory sciences, emphasizing neurosciences or behavioral psychology, and align with the fermentations laboratory (wine/enology) and meat science laboratory. Potential research areas include food analyses, sensory evaluation techniques, consumer testing, human feeding studies, neuroscience, bioinformatics, and precision food nutrition. Additional interests encompass ingestive behavior, microbiome, metabolomics, nutrigenomics, and factors affecting food intake. The candidate should provide leadership in food and nutrition research using cutting-edge approaches to study health impacts from a human sensory perspective. Teaching Responsibilities: Teaching will focus on Food Science, especially sensory science courses for undergraduates and graduates. The candidate will develop interdisciplinary courses bridging food science, nutrition, and health sciences, and will advise and mentor students within FNES. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in food science, nutrition, or related fields by the time of application. Candidate Evaluation: Postdoctoral or equivalent research experience with a strong publication record. Candidates will be evaluated on their potential to develop and sustain a nationally-funded research program and their communication skills for teaching and research.
