The Compliance Specialist will perform and support a variety of activities related to Medtronic’s transparency reporting and audit and monitoring programs. The Compliance Specialist, based in Bogota, Colombia, will join the Transparency Reporting Center of Expertise within the Office of Ethics and Compliance and report to the Compliance Director responsible for global transparency reporting (who is based in the U.S.). They will play a key role in supporting a variety of activities related to reporting Medtronic’s interactions with health care professionals (HCPs) and health care organizations (HCOs) as required by the U.S. Open Payments Program and other global transparency obligations. Additionally, the Compliance Specialist will perform audit and monitoring procedures as directed by the Global Audit and Monitoring Center of Expertise within the Office of Ethics and Compliance. Their time and assignments will be split equally between transparency reporting and audit and monitoring activities. This will be a remote position. Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned: Transparency Reporting: Work with team members and internal business partners to compile, review, correct, and submit transparency reports as mandated by state and federal authorities in the United States and other global regions. All deadlines must be met. Review and help maintain Healthcare Provider (HCP) and Healthcare Organization (HCO) databases to be used in preparing reports. Produce ad hoc reports for internal clients related to payments or transfers of value provided to HCPs and HCOs. Assist with data review and reconciliation efforts among source systems & databases to ensure all sources are aligned, complete, and accurate. Prepare metrics, summaries and presentations for management of data reported to the authorities. Professionally and promptly respond to frequent inquiries from our business partners related to transparency reporting requirements and guidelines. Audit and Monitoring: Provide A&M test execution support to the Global Compliance Auditing & Monitoring team as required, including project management, test design, and result scoring skills. Execute daily audit and monitoring activities. Work with key regional and/or operating unit contacts and stakeholders to present and validate potential issues, and facilitate the development of appropriate remediation plans and timelines. Prepare draft report of monitoring findings and communicate results of special projects to management. Maintain technical competence in auditing, information systems, and compliance policies and government regulations. Interpret testing results and formulate conclusions and scoring based on assessment of control deficiencies and root causes. Leverage data and analytic tools as appropriate to achieve greater testing accuracy and efficiency. Serve as a key contact point for Global Compliance Auditing & Monitoring team in its interactions with various businesses and geographies, other Medtronic departments and external entities. Required Knowledge and Experience: Bachelor’s degree. Fluent in English. Experience with Microsoft Office. Proficient in Microsoft Excel. Two years of experience, preferably in the healthcare industry, data analytics, regulatory, auditing and monitoring, or other compliance role. Ability to process and organize a high volume of data on a regular basis. Strong attention to detail and effective at identifying data inconsistencies. Experience in audit and monitoring techniques and data reconciliation. Achievement oriented and ability to drive results with the highest quality standards. Ability to work well under multiple instructions and directions with tight deadlines. Experience with query tools such as Business Objects, Power Business Intelligence, Tableau, TIBCO Spotfire is advantageous.
