Job Summary As the Senior Accountant , you’ll be a key financial leader, driving accuracy, transparency, and insight across our accounting operations. Reporting directly to the Controller, you will oversee property-level accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, reconciliations, audit support, and guide financial strategy, while playing a hands-on role in company growth through process optimization and high performance. This role requires a strong understanding of property management accounting, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with operations and management teams. Key Responsibilities Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements for assigned properties, ensuring keen attention to detail and timeliness in alignment with the requirements of the Property Managers. Perform month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and effectively managing accruals across a large portfolio. Reconcile bank accounts, credit card accounts, and balance sheet accounts to ensure the accuracy of accounts and reporting. Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and transparency across all departments and clients. Maintain general ledger and ensure accuracy of all financial records. Prepare budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses for properties. Assist with external audits and coordinate with auditors as needed. Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies. Support property managers with accurate records and analysis of property budgets/financials while ensuring smooth property operations. Requirements Experience & Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (Preference given to candidates who hold their CPA designation or are on track to complete it) 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years of this experience in the property management or real estate industry Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems Preferred: Experience working in accounting for US-based firms (especially in New York City) Experience with property management software (e.g., Yardi, AppFolio, MRI) is strongly preferred. CPA designation or on track to complete Technical Skills Proficiency in software (Preference for property management software systems like Yardi, AppFolio, and MRI). Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and Google Workspace. Ability to learn and navigate accounting and financial tracking systems efficiently. Soft Skills Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail. Ability to manage deadlines with ease. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment. Problem-solving mindset with the ability to troubleshoot issues with financial statements and inefficiencies.
